House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) has joined other Republican leaders to address concerns over the federal funding of universities enabling antisemitic behavior on their campuses. Scalise emphasized the need for universities to protect Jewish students and criticized the Biden Administration for withholding aid to Israel amid their conflict with Hamas.
"Last week, you saw the House pass overwhelmingly a bill to stand up to the antisemitism that we're seeing on college campuses all across America. If only those college presidents would do their jobs in protecting their students, Jewish students that are threatened every day."
"You saw just a few days ago here on this stage, Speaker [Johnson] leading an effort that six of our different standing committees are participating in, to ultimately go into and dig into the money."
"This isn't going to end... And we passed an aid package that is currently being held up by the Biden Administration. It is time for the Biden Administration to stop holding up that aid to Israel."
