House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) and Senator Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.) appeared on Fox Business Network's Kudlow to discuss the failures of Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas and the Biden Administration in addressing the border crisis. Scalise criticized President Biden for shifting blame and spreading lies about his refusal to take executive action to secure the southern border. He also highlighted the House's articles of impeachment against Mayorkas, citing his dereliction of duty and the consequences it has had on national security and the opioid crisis.

Scalise emphasized that President Biden has the legal authority and constitutional mandate to secure the nation, but has failed to do so. He pointed out that the House Republicans had put together a comprehensive bill, H.R. 2, over six months ago, which addresses the key issues of real asylum, "Remain in Mexico," catch and release, and the construction of a border wall. However, the president has shown no willingness to negotiate on this bill. Scalise stated, "We already have open borders. We need to secure our border. We showed the country how to do it with H.R. 2."

Regarding Secretary Mayorkas, Scalise criticized his failure to fulfill his duty of protecting America's homeland. He highlighted the fact that over 8 million people have entered the country illegally, including individuals on the terrorist watch list. Scalise accused Mayorkas of lying to Congress by testifying that the border is secure when it is evident that it is not. He also criticized Vice President Kamala Harris, who was put in charge of border security, for her failure in addressing the crisis.

Scalise stated, "The Secretary of Homeland Security is the person in charge of the border. He can secure the border today. He's chosen not to, and that's a failure of his job." He emphasized that Mayorkas has had months to address the border crisis but has chosen not to do so.

In response to the House Republicans' articles of impeachment against Mayorkas, Scalise confirmed that it will be voted on in the full House after passing the committee. He acknowledged that it is unfortunate to reach this point but stated that the country is fed up and demands a secure border. Scalise highlighted the alarming fact that individuals from over 160 different countries are illegally crossing the border every day, and the drug cartels have operational control, resulting in the deaths of 150 young people daily from fentanyl.

Scalise concluded by saying, "The public's watching it: They're fed up. And if the secretary won't do his job, let's impeach him and have somebody else do the job."
