House Majority Leader Steve Scalise recently addressed the swift implementation of House Republican legislation under President Donald Trump's administration. Speaking alongside Speaker Mike Johnson, House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain, and Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz, Scalise highlighted key legislative achievements such as the Laken Riley Act and initiatives to protect girls and women in sports.

Scalise emphasized the pace at which President Trump has been working since taking office on January 20th. "Since Donald Trump took the oath of office... you've seen the President work at a feverish pace to deliver on the promises that he made to the American people," said Scalise. He pointed out actions taken by Trump to secure America's border and efforts to reduce costs for American families through energy policies and federal agency spending cuts.

The collaboration between President Trump and Congress was underscored by Scalise with recent legislative successes. "Just a few days ago, President Trump signed the Laken Riley Act... We passed this bill last year," noted Scalise, adding that it was now enacted due to support from Republican leadership in both chambers.

Scalise also mentioned an executive order set to be signed by Trump concerning participation in women's sports. "Today, President Trump will sign an executive order... that men can't play in women's sports," said Scalise, indicating ongoing efforts to make such policies permanent through legislation.

On budget reconciliation efforts, Scalise detailed ongoing discussions within Congress. "We've been working very closely with our membership... There are 11 committees of jurisdiction that are working on the details of budget reconciliation," he explained. The focus remains on securing votes necessary for passing a budget crucial for advancing these priorities.

Scalise further outlined upcoming legislative goals including measures against fentanyl trafficking and safeguarding American energy production through fracking. Highlighting Trump's stance on these issues, he stated: "President Trump laid this out when he issued more tariffs... We're also bringing a bill to say that no future president can ban fracking."

In closing remarks unrelated to legislative matters, Scalise welcomed visitors to New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX. As a native of New Orleans, he expressed pride in hosting another Super Bowl at the Superdome and invited attendees to enjoy local culture during their visit.
