House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, alongside other Republican leaders, addressed the progress made by House Republicans in implementing President Trump's agenda. They emphasized their efforts to reintroduce key bills previously rejected by Senate Democrats. Among these are the Protection of Women & Girls in Sports Act and the Preventing Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act.
Scalise highlighted the Laken Riley Act, stating: “Once again, we have an agenda that's bringing bills to the floor to follow through on things we talked about during the campaign." He noted that this act had bipartisan support and expressed optimism with a new Senate majority leader willing to bring it up for consideration.
Discussing legislation aimed at protecting women, Scalise remarked: “Just like with some of the other bills, we're going to continue to stand up for what's right.” He criticized past Senate refusals to address such issues and anticipated a shift with the current Senate leadership.
On America First policies within reconciliation, Scalise said: “When people say elections have consequences, the consequences are already being seen and felt in terms of actual good policy." He outlined plans for budget reconciliation focused on various national concerns including border security and energy production.
The House Republicans plan to move forward aggressively with these initiatives as they prepare for President Trump's upcoming inauguration.
