House Majority Leader Steve Scalise appeared on Fox Business Network's Kudlow to discuss the timeline for House Republicans' budget reconciliation efforts. Scalise emphasized his collaboration with committee chairs to ensure unity among Republicans and swift action to alleviate financial burdens from the Biden-Harris administration. He stressed that tax reform, energy policy, and border security require an aggressive approach to budget reconciliation.
Scalise praised Pete Hegseth's commitment to reforming the Department of Defense, stating, "He wants to rightsize it. He wants to go in and focus on the warfighter, on our men and women in uniform or on the front lines, not all the big bureaucracy at the Pentagon."
Discussing House Republicans’ reconciliation plans, Scalise noted early preparations: "We had already started working months ago. I met with President Trump months ago. I've been meeting with committee chairs, and we laid out what we would do, one big, beautiful bill." He outlined a timeline where by February a budget would be completed, followed by March when committees will work on identifying savings.
Scalise assured quick action prioritizing working-class Americans through Trump tax policies: "It will happen, and it'll happen quickly." He highlighted past delays due to lack of alignment between Congress and the President but assured that this time they are ahead of schedule.
The goal is significant economic benefits for families struggling under current economic conditions. By April, Scalise expects the budget bill to pass through the House.
