House Majority Leader Steve Scalise has been re-elected to his position for the 119th Congress. In a statement released from Washington, D.C., Scalise expressed gratitude for the continued support from his colleagues. "I am honored to be re-elected by my colleagues to serve as the Majority Leader for the 119th Congress, where I will continue to fight each and every day to make life safe and affordable for the American people," he stated.
Scalise emphasized that recent elections reflected a strong public mandate against what he described as "radical far-left policies" and in favor of implementing former President Trump's America First agenda. He highlighted Republican control over the White House, Senate, and House of Representatives as an opportunity to reverse policies from the Biden-Harris Administration.
"This means passing legislation to secure America’s southern border, unleash American energy, lower costs for hardworking families by getting inflation under control, rein in costly regulations, keep our communities safe, bolster our national security, and reject tax hikes," Scalise said.
The Majority Leader also noted that House Republicans are prepared to act on their promises. "House Republicans are ready to get to work fulfilling our promises to the American people and answering their clear demand for change," he added. Scalise looks forward to collaborating with key figures such as President Trump, Speaker Johnson, Whip Emmer, Conference Chair McClain, NRCC Chair Hudson, Policy Chair Hern, Vice Chair Moore, Conference Secretary Houchin, and other members of the Republican Conference.
