Today, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise expressed his approval of President Trump's decision to appoint Elise Stefanik as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Scalise, a Republican from Louisiana, shared his thoughts on the nomination of Stefanik, who currently serves as the Conference Chair.
In his statement, Scalise remarked: “President Trump has made a fantastic choice with Conference Chair Elise Stefanik for U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. I will miss Elise, who has become a dear friend in the House as well as a respected leader as our Republican Conference Chair."
Scalise further praised Stefanik's qualifications for her new role and acknowledged the impact her departure would have on the House. He stated: "She is extremely qualified for this new role in public service, and the House’s loss will be a huge gain for the Trump Administration and the country."
He concluded by expressing confidence in Stefanik's ability to represent American values at an international level: "There is nobody better to represent President Trump’s foreign policy and America’s values at the United Nations than Elise Stefanik.”
