House Majority Leader Steve Scalise recently discussed the potential for budget reconciliation to drive economic growth in a segment on Fox Business Network's Mornings with Maria. Scalise outlined the importance of making tax cuts permanent, securing fair trade agreements, and increasing private investments within the United States. He emphasized that Congress must promptly pass budget reconciliation to support this agenda.

Scalise criticized Democrats' refusal to support reconciliation, suggesting it equates to advocating for tax hikes on small businesses. He stated, "We're going to continue fighting to get [tax cuts] done."

He explained the reconciliation process as a necessary step for aligning House and Senate strategies. "We got an agreement on those two and some really important commitments from the Senate," Scalise noted. He highlighted the connection between economic performance and legislative clarity, emphasizing the urgency of the bill: "The economy is waiting for this to happen."

Scalise also spoke against a potential new tax bracket of 40% for top earners, urging constituents to question their Democratic representatives about tax increases. He said, "Every family will see a tax hike, and every small business in America will see a tax hike if the Democrats get their way."

Scalise praised President Trump's impact on increasing private investments and noted substantial economic commitments like the NVIDIA and Hyundai plants. He expressed optimistic prospects for future trade deals: "If we get fair trade out of this, I think that's going to be great for all countries, but especially the United States."

Highlighting the importance of rooting out inefficiencies in federal spending, Scalise criticized misuse of funds by federal agencies. He stated, "Thank goodness, DOGE and Elon have been identifying so much waste, fraud, and abuse."

Scalise remains focused on these financial reforms, aiming to address wasteful government spending while bringing economic benefits to the citizens.
