House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, alongside other Republican leaders, criticized Democrats for prioritizing their opposition to President Trump over funding the government and supporting federal workers. The group, including Speaker Mike Johnson and House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, expressed concern about the Democrats' focus on personal animosity rather than legislative responsibilities.

Scalise highlighted President Trump's achievements in his first six weeks in office, noting his energy and commitment to fulfilling campaign promises. "Last week, all Americans who watched the State of the Union saw a very triumphant President Trump," he stated.

The discussion also touched on what Scalise described as misguided priorities by Democrats. He remarked on their lack of support during significant moments at the State of the Union address, such as honoring a young cancer survivor and paying tribute to a slain police officer's widow. "My friends, the Democrat Party of today is a leaderless, rudderless ship," Scalise commented.

Scalise accused Democrats of neglecting federal workers they claim to support by voting to furlough them while using COVID-19 as an excuse for absenteeism from federal buildings. He criticized their protest actions against efforts to eliminate waste and fraud in government operations.

Addressing the ongoing budget issues, Scalise pointed out that many Democrats would vote against government funding due to their anger over Trump's election victory. "Yet today, many [Democrats] will vote to shut down the government," he said.

Scalise called on Senate Republicans to act on a budget reconciliation bill passed by the House weeks ago aimed at implementing Trump's agenda. "We're going to urge our Senate once we finish this bill; the Senate's got to start moving on the House budget that we sent to them weeks ago," he concluded.
