Today, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) released a statement following President Trump's Joint Address to Congress. Scalise expressed approval of the address, describing it as a "welcome change from what we heard for the last four years." He praised President Trump for his actions since taking office, stating that he has been working at a "whirlwind pace" to reverse policies from the previous administration and fulfill promises made to the American people.

Scalise highlighted several areas where he believes President Trump has made significant progress. These include securing the border, addressing inflation, reducing wasteful spending, and promoting American energy. According to Scalise, in February, Border Patrol recorded only 8,326 encounters and apprehensions at the southern border, which he claims is "the lowest documented numbers in history," compared to higher figures under President Biden.

Additionally, Scalise noted that President Trump has begun reversing regulations related to energy production and has taken steps through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to reduce government waste. He also mentioned executive orders aimed at cutting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion mandates and reinstating merit-based hiring practices.

On international matters, Scalise commended President Trump for standing up against terrorist organizations and pursuing peace through strength. He also mentioned efforts to negotiate fair trade policies that benefit American workers and businesses.

Scalise concluded by expressing optimism about the future under President Trump's leadership: "Thanks to President Trump, the state of our union is finally getting stronger... The renewal of the American Dream is finally here!"
