House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, alongside Speaker Mike Johnson, House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, and Conference Vice Chair Blake Moore, outlined the Republican agenda for January. The plan focuses on using the budget reconciliation process to prevent tax hikes by maintaining the Trump tax cuts, increasing American energy production, securing borders, reducing wasteful regulations from the Biden-Harris administration, and decreasing the size of the administrative state.

Scalise emphasized fulfilling a mandate from voters: “[Congressman] Blake [Moore] laid out the bills that we're bringing to the floor again this week. Yesterday, we passed a really important bill for our nation's veterans by [Congressman] Juan Ciscomani, named after Elizabeth Dole. It was good to get that bill passed overwhelmingly out of the House, now over to the Senate.”

He further discussed planning for January: “[I’m] going to talk a little bit about the planning that we're doing for January. We just got an overwhelming mandate from the voters of this country to, number one, reject the far-left policies that we've seen from the Biden-Harris administration...to focus on lowering costs for family at the grocery store...”

Scalise also addressed preparations to deliver relief: “Once again, I assembled all the committee chairs last week...This is going to be a busy process next year. We laid out a very aggressive first 100-day agenda...We are going to work to prevent [a large tax hike] from happening.”

He concluded with readiness plans: “Ultimately...being ready day one...working with President Trump to get our country moving again quickly so that families can finally get relief..."
