House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) released a statement today following the approval of a major disaster declaration in response to Hurricane Francine. The declaration applies to Ascension, Assumption, Lafourche, St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist, St. Mary, and Terrebonne Parishes.

“As South Louisiana continues to assess the damages from Hurricane Francine, it is critical that we have the right resources to help people and communities rebuild and recover," Scalise stated.

He noted that the declaration covers several parishes significantly impacted by the hurricane and mentioned that additional parishes might be included as damage assessments continue.

“I’ve spoken directly with local, state and federal officials, and will continue to work to ensure the communities and families impacted by this storm have the resources they need to fully recover,” Scalise added.
