WASHINGTON, D.C.— As the seven-year anniversary of the Congressional Baseball Game shooting approaches, Fox Nation has released a docuseries examining the incident and its aftermath. The series features interviews with House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.), who recounts the events of that day, his recovery process, and the broader implications of political violence.

Leader Scalise shared his experience during the shooting, highlighting moments he considers miraculous and acknowledging the efforts of law enforcement, first responders, medical personnel, colleagues, friends, and family.

On recalling when shots were fired:

"I heard a noise. And to me, it sounded like a tractor backfiring," Scalise said. "You’re not thinking that it's a gunshot at seven in the morning on a baseball field."

He continued: "As soon as I was hit, then I knew this is bad. I never saw the shooter but I knew it was coming from the third base side and I'm at second. So I kind of started moving towards the outfield, and then my legs gave out... Then I just started crawling through the dust and dirt of the infield … That's when I started praying because my body just had totally given out so I just said, God, please get me through this."

Scalise also described hearing another caliber bullet: "It wasn't long where I heard a different caliber bullet. I knew that had to be [Special Agent David Bailey] – it was a lot of rapid fire."

Reflecting on thoughts about his family during those critical moments:

"My daughter... she was 10 at the time... And then I just put it in His hands," he recalled.

Regarding his lack of awareness about who was behind the attack:

"I had no idea [in the moment who the shooter was]."

Scalise credited several individuals for their heroic actions that day:

"As [Rep.] Brad [Wenstrup] was tending to me... some other Members came around...I called my wife and left a message..."

He also mentioned being transported by helicopter to MedStar Hospital:

"Sure enough... they put me on an ambulance... It turned out to be really important because they had access to fly straight across to MedStar Hospital..."

Discussing motivations behind the attack:

"Oh, it definitely was intended to be [a massacre of House Republicans]."

Finally reflecting on what he sees as divine intervention:

"I had a guardian angel... It only didn’t happen because of ...the miracles that you can only explain through one thing – God was on that ball field."
