The Chamber SWLA has announced that Velika  Hurst-Trahan has been appointed Vice Chair of the agency’s Business  Development and Inclusion Task Force.

She has served on the Task Force and will fill the seat that became vacant after the passing of former Chairman Thomas Clemons.

“I look forward to this opportunity to support the Chamber SWLA’s  efforts to promote business opportunity for all Chamber of Commerce  members,” Hurst-Trahan said. “The more people that have access to  employment and entrepreneurial opportunities, the stronger our region  will become.”

Hurst-Trahan works for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana as a  Strategic Account Manager. Her volunteer service includes: Big Brothers  Big Sisters of SWLA—Board President; Christus Ochsner SWLA  Foundation—Board Member; Family&Youth Counseling Agency—Advisory  Council Member and Women’s Commission of SWLA—Vice President and Fall  conference Chair.

Alliance/Chamber SWLA President and CEO George Swift said  Hurst-Trahan has the experience and insights needed to lead the Task  Force.

"Hurst-Trahan has been involved in our community for years in the  professional and non-profit sector. We are proud to have her lead the  Task Force,” he said.

The Task Force advocates for Alliance/Chamber SWLA policies and  initiatives that promote the region’s talent pool along with sharing  best practices and principles for business development and inclusion  within the community.
