The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office announced on May 18 that deputies responded late Saturday night to a large gathering of juveniles in the Lakeshore Villages community, resulting in several arrests.

According to the sheriff’s office, the incident began when deputies arrived at a residence on Delta Ridge Avenue and found hundreds of juveniles present. The crowd quickly dispersed, with many moving to a nearby closed neighborhood playground where several fights broke out.

Authorities said that due to the size of the crowd and ongoing disturbances, additional deputies from other patrol districts were called in for support. Louisiana State Police troopers and members of the Slidell Police Department also assisted with crowd control efforts.

The sheriff’s office reported that two male juveniles were arrested and charged with disturbing the peace and resisting arrest. Another male juvenile was arrested for disturbing the peace, while one female juvenile was charged with resisting arrest. All four were released to their parents under custodial agreements requiring them to appear in court. The remaining juveniles were ordered to leave the area, and no injuries were reported during the incident.

“The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office reminds parents and guardians to be aware of their children’s whereabouts and activities, especially during large gatherings where situations can quickly get out of control,” said officials from the department.

Sheriff Randy Smith said he would like “to thank the Louisiana State Police and the Slidell Police Department for their assistance in safely dispersing the large crowd and helping restore order to the area.”
