The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office responded on April 15 to a report of a woman experiencing an apparent mental health crisis in Slidell.

Deputies found a 51-year-old woman unclothed and acting erratically on Louisiana Highway 433 near a gas station. According to the sheriff’s office, she was throwing objects, removing her clothing, and attempting to enter passing vehicles as children were heading to school and school buses were driving by.

For safety reasons, deputies used a non-lethal Taser to subdue the woman and bring the situation under control. Emergency medical personnel then transported her to a local hospital for evaluation.

Authorities said that after she is released from medical care, the woman will be taken into custody and arrested on charges related to her actions during the incident.

No injuries were reported as a result of this event.
