House Majority Leader Steve Scalise has called on the Senate to expedite the passage of the House budget bill. Speaking on Fox Business Network’s Varney and Co., Scalise emphasized the significance of passing the bill to further President Trump’s agenda, particularly in extending tax cuts and preventing potential tax increases that could impact lower and middle-income Americans.

Scalise discussed the need for securing tax cuts as part of a broader economic strategy. He stated, “[Trump tax cuts have] to get done. In fact, that’s why we came together in the House, Stuart, and passed the budget last week to lay the foundation not just for border and energy policy but for tax cuts.” He highlighted that including tax provisions in the bill is crucial for economic stability and certainty.

Addressing President Trump’s recent call to action for Senate cooperation, Scalise remarked on efforts made within his party to pass the budget with a narrow margin. “The Senate has it now, by the way. They need to do their part,” he said. He urged Senate Republicans to act swiftly following what he described as a directive from President Trump.

Scalise also criticized Democrats for their lack of support on this issue, pointing out that middle and low-income families would face significant challenges without these measures. “This isn’t the millionaires and billionaires we’re talking about,” he said, underscoring that everyday workers like waitstaff would be affected by potential tax hikes.
