House Majority Leader Steve Scalise has commented on the recent report released by the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence regarding the FBI’s handling of the 2017 Congressional Baseball Shooting investigation. The report follows a review of the FBI case file by Director Kash Patel, which was presented to the committee after years of what Scalise described as a lack of transparency from previous FBI leadership.
Scalise stated, “This report definitively shows the FBI completely mishandled the investigation into the Congressional baseball shooting of 2017 – ignoring crucial and obvious facts in order to sell a false narrative that the shooting was not politically motivated.” He expressed gratitude towards Director Patel, Chairman Rick Crawford, and committee staff for uncovering what he called “a deliberate and planned act of domestic terrorism toward Republican Members of Congress.”
Furthermore, Scalise urged Director Patel to implement the committee’s recommendations aimed at eliminating bias within the intelligence community. He emphasized the need to identify those responsible for what he termed misleading conclusions and stressed that the FBI should focus on following facts objectively.
