House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) issued a statement following a shooting at a rally for President Trump in Pennsylvania. The incident has raised concerns over political violence and the rhetoric surrounding it.

“I am praying for President Trump and all of those hurt at today’s rally. We owe our gratitude to the swift action of brave law enforcement heroes and first responders who acted quickly,” said Scalise.

Scalise also criticized Democratic leaders, stating, “For weeks Democrat leaders have been fueling ludicrous hysteria that Donald Trump winning re-election would be the end of democracy in America.”

He further added, “Clearly we’ve seen far-left lunatics act on violent rhetoric in the past. This incendiary rhetoric must stop.”
