A Covington-area man was arrested on May 6 in connection with the theft of a motor vehicle, according to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The case began when detectives from the Property Crimes Division were contacted by an individual who reported purchasing a vehicle from Mark Finn of Covington. The buyer discovered that the vehicle might be stolen after attempting to sell it to a scrap yard, where an employee recognized it as stolen and alerted the buyer.
Deputies located Finn at his residence on Wednesday morning and arrested him without incident. He was transported to the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center.
While Finn was being dropped off at the correctional center, a deputy found a white powdery substance on the rear floorboard of the patrol car. Testing confirmed that it was methamphetamine.
Mark Finn, born September 5, 1969, was booked into jail on several charges: theft of a motor vehicle valued between $1,000 and $5,000 (felony), possession of methamphetamine (Schedule II controlled dangerous substance), obstruction of justice, and bringing contraband into a penal institution.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to review evidence related to this case.
